"In Loving Memory" of 'Honeybunn'

My sweet little 'Honeybunn' was so beautiful. She was a diluted Tortoiseshell Calico Persian that lived an extremely hard life. A friend of mine found her roaming around in the streets and she was extremely matted with a severe eye infection in both eyes. She took her in, carried her to the vet and had her shaved. The vet told my friend that there was nothing they could do about cysts on her eyes and gave her some antibiotic ointment. She had her for about a year which by then 'Honeybunn' was from the doctor's estimate about 10-12 years old. Her other cat was a 'loner' and did not like having another cat around his 'turf' so she needed to find another home for her.

I went to visit her one day with a mutual friend of ours and the moment my eyes met the beautiful cat, I FELL IN LOVE!! I thought she was the most beautiful cat I had ever seen and I had always wanted one her color but could never find one! I threw a fit over her and my friend told me the situation and asked if I would be interested in taking her home. By this time I had already had 5 kitty's (which the two latest were rescue cats) , and I told her my husband would kill me if I brought another one home. My friend named her 'Honey' but when I saw how sweet she was, I named her 'Honeybunn'.

I called my husband and told him about her. He was okay with the idea simply because he knows my heart for animals. I brought her home, took her to the vet and got her all shots, shaved, and a complete checkup. The doctor had been able to sedate her to draw some of the fluid off of her cysts to give her some relief.

I took her home and we had the pleasure and joy of having her for another 2 years.

Sunday when I went to say hi to her, her breathing was very labored like she could not catch a breath. I rushed her to the vet and told them that this might be it. The doctor put her on oxygen and ran some tests. The prognosis was devastating. She has sever heart disease, fluid on her lungs, and fluid in her abdomen. The doctor said it was best to send her on to chase the butterflies. It was heartbreaking. I will never forget that day.

She was the most loving cat of all of my kitty's and loved to be held. She loved to be brushed and absolutely LOVED the hairdryer!

I will miss her very much and I will always cherish the precious 2 years God had allowed me to have her. I only wish I could have gotten her when she was just a kitten. I could only imagine the memories we could have had.

I will see her again someday. She is up there waiting for me along with my 'Buster'. They are both chasing butterflies and having a ball.

Basset puppy update

"Copper" "Lillie"

Our puppies are home!

Hey there! I just recently found out when I picked up my baby's on August 19, something interesting. More like sad but ironic actually...

My "Buster" was killed (by coyotes and we buried him that early morning) on Thursday July 10th... my birthday (the big one) was Friday July 11th... and the puppies were born on Saturday July 12th.

You know they always say...where there is a death, there is a birth. They are 6 weeks old today. I lost my buster 6 weeks ago also.

I have had them 2 days now and as roudy as they are, I feel I have bit off more than I can chew!
"Bo", our husky/malimute is growing a think an inch a day and "Dodger" ( our other basset) doesn't know what to think with all these puppies running around!

Our Newest Addition(s)!!

Hello there all!! I want to introduce you to our newest addition(s) to our family.

On your left is our little girl named "Lillie", and on your right is our little runt male named "Copper". They are 3 weeks old and will be ready to come home with us in about 3 more weeks!

I was going to adopt just one but..just like potato chips... I couldn't have just one, so ... I chose BOTH!!

This is the mama. Her name is "Susie Q"

And this is the daddy. His name is "Cooper"

When we lost "Goober" in March and adopted "Dodger", then lost "Buster" in July, I just couldn't bare to not have another Basset. A friend of mine's aunts male and female Bassets just had a litter of puppies and told me about them. I just couldn't resist so I went to look at them. I FELL IN LUUUUVVVV!!! It was such a tough decision, I decided to take the two I fell in love with the moment I saw them.

Now, we have a 4 year old Basset Hound named "Dodger", and my husband just adopted a Husky/Malamute pup that is about 7 weeks old. I was just gonna get one of the basset pups but I just could not help myself. They are soooooo cute!!!!

I CAN'T WAIT TO BRING THEM HOME!!!

Introducing "BO!"

This is "Bo"! Short for Bocefus. He is a beautiful Husky/Malamute and is about 7 weeks old. He is a beauty! He is my husbands new addition to the family. We have had him about a week now and he already knows his name! Our basset hound "Dodger" took to him immediately and they have been playing ever since.

He follows my husband around everywhere he goes and is already spoiled rotten. "Bo" is going to be one beautiful LARGE dog when he grows up. "Dodger" will be looking UP at him instead of down really soon! But they have become great buddies and it's been great for "Dodger". He has really missed "Buster".

I will be putting updated pic's of "Bo" as I post so you can see how he has grown.

Here is "Bo's" mama and daddy...\
Daddy... Mamma

In precious memory of my "Buster"

"OUR PRECIOUS BUSTER"

On Thursday, July 10, 2008, I lost my precious Buster. Coyotes had attacked and killed him right in our front yard the day before my 40 birthday. It could not have been a worst day.

My husband went to take the trash can to the road that early morning and saw Buster laying in the front yard and thought he was asleep. When he told him "morning", Buster didn't move. He went over to him and then ran into the house hollering that Buster is dead. My son and I jumped right out of bed and ran out to him.

The coyotes had ripped his collar off in tact and it lay about 4 feet from his still body. He had puncture wounds all over him and evidently had been attacked some time the night before. We all cried and cried but I think I cried the most. He was my most favorite dog I have ever had in my entire life.

Buster chose me when he was just 5 weeks old and he would have been 9 years old.

He was the most precious, gentle, calm, happy, and loving dog I had ever seen. Every time I come out side, he would come to me and I'd say, " You're my most favoritest puppy in the whole world." Then I would sit down and he liked to nudge his nose under my arm because he liked it being around him. We would sit there in the peace and stillness and enjoy each others company.

My son adored him...

I have never had a dog like him and I know that I will never find one again as special as he was. His disposition was impeccable.

I still look for him without thinking when I come home from work and when I leave for work. He was always at the door waiting to greet me and get his treat.

Buster was extremely special to me and he is definitely irreplaceable. I will always carry him in my heart.
We have now lost both of our Bassets this year. "Goober" and "Buster" will always have a very special place in our hearts. They were inseparable.

"In Loving Memory" of 'Furbie'

We have lost yet another hamster...

'Furbie' died in my sons arms on Sunday... June 22, 2008 around 11:30 p.m.

My son cried and cried and cried. When I found 'Furbie', he was barely hanging on with little short breaths. My son held him and loved on him and talked to him until he passed away. We buried him along side the rest of our beloved pets we have lost in the past. We have a little 'cemetary' out back. It's growing by numbers.
'Furbie' will be terribly missed. ( he was my favorite hamster, he was soooo loving and sweet!)

In Memory of 'Fatso'

Yesterday our hamster 'Fatso' has went to Heaven. It was time for him to go and be with Jesus. My son cried when I told him. He was at his grandma's when I had to break the news. My son is such an animal lover, just like his mamma. God has blessed him with such a huge heart for all walks of life here on earth and I know that he will see 'Fatso' again someday.

So we are now missing 1 basset hound and minus 1 hamster. 'Honeybunn' (my elderly cat)is also sick and I don't think she will be with us much longer. It's always very hard to let a pet go when you are so attached to them. It's difficult seeing ANY animal hurt or worse but it's even more difficult when it's your pet that you've loved for years. You never get over them being gone from your life and there will always be a hole in our hearts for those very special pets that have made a permanent mark in our walk with life.

Please continue to pray for 'Goober's' safe return to us. We will never give up and always have faith and hope that he will come home.

Informative Pet Health Issues: Summer Heat Tips

Pet Health Issue: Young Pets, Overweight Pets, and Older Pets, During the Summer Heat

Summer Heat Tips:

The statistics of pet ownership has been climbing for years. Every day many more people go out and become new pet owners, and some of us have had pets longer then some jobs or even marriages. Regardless of how long you have had your pet, you will have to deal with at least two of the issues I am about to address, that of summer health issues and the age or weight of your pets.

Like humans, age and conditioning play an important part of our activities during the summer months. Regrettably we often fail to notice the effects that summer has on our four legged friends.
Pets do not have the same ability to cool down as you and I do. When it is excessively hot, like it can be during the summer months, we can sit in front of a fan, grab a cold soda, or crank up the air conditioners. But your pet must pant and pant until his body temperature is regulated. Even in an air conditioned room, your pet can be too hot if you have been outside running them around for a while. Remember, it will take considerable more time for him to cool down from his exercise, than it will for you.

To avoid putting your pet’s health at serious risk this summer, follow a few simple steps that can make a big difference:

Walk your pets early in the morning or late at night. These times of day are much cooler, and they will appreciate not having the blazing sun on their fur coat.
Bring a large water bottle for your pet. Water bottles are not just for you. Get one for your pet. Use one that has a squirt top as they can lick the water out easier, and you will not spill as much.

Take your time walking your pet. If you must walk your pet during the hottest hours, (hey we all have schedules), then make sure you can go at a slow pace. Cut the walk short if you need to and take rest breaks during the walk. Better to walk your dog again later than to overdo it at noon time.

Monitor your pet’s health. The more time you spend with your pet, the more you should know about your pet’s health condition. You need to know the limits of the pets you have.

Always consider the weakest pet health link. If you have more then one pet, then make sure you always keep in mind the pet which will have the highest risk factors.

For example: We have two Bassett Hounds that LOVE to run the countryside all day. When they want to cool down, they just come home for a little TLC and rest...and just take a little dip into my Koi pond!! But that's okay, because I know that they have a way of cooling down when I'm not home. They also get kisses from my Koi!

Keeping your pet healthy during the summer is not hard at all. Simply keep in mind that they are much like us in some regards. They want to relax, have a cool drink and perhaps a dip in the pool. If you are going to walk them, and you should, just make sure that they can handle it as well as you can. Take your time, let them rest, give then a nice treat of some ice cubes when you’re done. They will love you for the walk, and love you more for caring enough not to put them in harms way.

I hope this information was helpful!

Great Health To You And Your Pets!

About me

My name is Michelle. Right now I work in a manufacturing facility but have been "called out" to serve elsewhere. It has been a strong passion of mine to provide somehow for animals needs.

I have a very large family...my husband, my son, and......(deep breath)..... 2 Bassett Hounds, 6 cats, 30 fishies, 2 sugargliders, and 3 hamsters. I also had 3 cockatiels but had given them to some friends of ours. Can you tell we love animals?

My goal is to open up my very own pet supply store. But it won't be your average pet supplies. I like unique things such as things you don't see in pet stores. I also like organic, natural things. It is more healthy for my family as well as my pets.

Along with unique pet supplies, I am planning on selling very unique pet toys and other things that you don't find in pet stores. Did you know that you can not find hardly ANYTHING for your pet critters like Sugar Gliders? They need certian things like bonding pouches and sleeping pouches that you can not find ANYWHERE. So that is one of my goals. I just have to learn how to sew!!

I am also looking for suppliers to get started. If you know of anyone, please send them to me at
http://www.nourishyourpets.blogspot.com/

I ask that you be patient with me while I'm learning to build this site for future reference. ( more like a warning!) Cause I have no idea what I am doing and if any of you could give me some tips, THAT WOULD BE GREAT!

Free Pet Food For Shelter Dogs And Cats

The Animal Rescue Site needs more people to click on this link daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.

It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the purple box 'fund food for animals' for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their Corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know! http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com AGAIN, PLEASE TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!! If you were wondering... Snopes.Com says this is legitimate!

Here is the Article from the Site...

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

Each click on the purple "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at the Fund for Animals' renowned animal sanctuaries (including Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California), pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Foundation, North Shore Animal League, and other worthy animal care facilities supported by the GreaterGood.org foundation.

100% of sponsor advertising fees goes to our charitable partners.

Introducing a dream in progress...

"I have noticed where I live that there aren't many pet stores around. I was in one today and thought," How I would LOVE to own something like this at unbeatable prices for people just like you and me."

"We need more available all natural products for our pets. With all of the recalls on foods and toys and such we can never be too safe. My pets are just like my children and I take much precaution of what to give them. I would rather them pass away with natural causes than by a product out there that ends up being harmful."

Nature's Unique Care Pets

Now days we have so many different things out there to give to our pets. Some of it good, some of it bad. I believe in caring and loving our pets the way God intended. That means to not only SPOIL THEM but also to provide them with great health and a great life.

In doing that, we have to find the things that is best for them so they can be with us for a very long time. That companionship is extremely important not only to me but to my family as well. I believe our pets teach our children what true friendship is and loyalty is just as important.

I remember coming home from school after a bad day dealing with a mean kid or two and my cat and dog greeted me at the door. They made me feel like I was the most important thing in their lives. Our pets are a big part of our lives and I want to make a difference in prolonging that relationship between us and them.

My idea was introducing such things as:

  • Organic pet foods
  • Organic litters and bedding
  • All Natural cleaners
  • Unique toys
  • Chew toys
  • cages and kits
  • Bonding pouches
  • Sleeping pouches
  • All natural vitamins
  • All natural shampoo's
  • Grooming supplies
  • Collars and Leashes
  • Litter boxes
  • Flea and Tick preventatives
  • Treats
  • Doggie Diapers
  • Puppy Pads
  • Outfits
  • Pet Strollers
  • Books
  • The list goes on and on...and on...and on...
  • These supplies will be for dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchilla's, hamsters, birds, sugar gliders, well... basically for any small animals and critters. Now I will be starting small and adding a little as I go so bear with me!

Well...you get the idea. Now mind you, I am a far cry from getting this up and running. That's why I need your help. This has started as a dream. I pray that I can succeed in making it come true.

God Bless,

Michelle;

How My Kittie's Found Me...

Where My Kitties Come From

In one of my previous posts, I had told you that all of my cats are rescues. But I do need to clarify that one of them (Gypsy) was actually given to me after my 17 year old cat died. The story behind that is...

A great friend of mine was getting married at the time and during that time, my 17 year old cat passed away. Her fiancee' didn't care for cats and she is also more of a dog lover anyway. So after Tigger died, she had given me Gypsy and she went out and got her a Dachshund puppy. She is soooo cute!! Her name is 'Chloe'!

Anyway, ALL of my cats are rescues except for Gypsy. She is a Himalayan and is absolutely beautiful an soo, soo sweet!!

Here's the REST OF THE STORY...of my rescued sweeties

"Gypsy" : is a beautiful long haired Himalayan with the biggest blue eyes! Like I said above, she wa given to me after my 17 year old blue and white Tigger passed away. Tigger was a wedding present. He has been gone now almost 3 years.

Gypsy is the sweeeeetiest kitty in the world! My friend had picked her out of a litter of kittens and raised her with lots of love. We now spoil her even more and she is a very happy, healthy kittie. She loves to be petted and LOVES to talk to you. And those big blue eyes will melt your heart.

"Katie": is a female long haired Tortoiseshell Calico. She came home with me one day when I was in the pet store. Someone had brought in a couple cats and I had only lost my 'Orphan' another Tortoiseshell Calico about 3 years earlier. I was still pining for her and when I walked by ( I was on my way out the door), 'Katie' was sitting there looking right at me.

I asked to see her and when I held her in my arms, she relaxed and looked right up at me with complete and utter trust and I think we fell in love with each other that very moment. She looked just like my 'Orphan' and I just started to cry. I HAD to have her. She was free so I took her home!
She loves to jump on my back and lay while I am bending over. She likes to lay on me when I am on the floor and she also jumps into my arms, just like a dog! And she loves my little boy to death!!! Katie took to my little boy instantly and have been inseparable ever since!

I can't imagine my life without her! She is SPOILED ROTTEN!

"Emily": is a female grey and silver, black striped Tabby with simi-long hair. I got her at a yard sale one day.She was 5 weeks old when I brought her home. The owners cat had a litter of kittens and she wasn't even winged yet when I picked her out. After a couple weeks, I was able to bring her home and she is SPOILED ROTTEN! I consider her rescued due to the fact the owners told me that most of their cats always disappeared or get run over!
Emily is a very playful kittie and loves to try to 'squeeeeze' into tiny places with her 'big' body.
She is a mess!!

"Honeybunn": is a pure bred, flat faced Diluted Calico Persian and is an elderly cat. She was found by a friend of mine roaming the neighborhood wet and all matted. She took her to the vet and had her shaved and examined. She also had developed an infection in her eyelids which caused cysts in her eyes. The vet said there is nothing they can do. Her cysts are getting bigger everyday and are really causing her some grief. I had also since gotten her shaved and re-examined, and caught up on shots and such.

My friend could not keep her because of her not getting along with her other cat. ( Her other cat has always been a loner ) so of course...I took her. Honeybunn we guess is about 12 or 13 years old and barely have any teeth. She LOVES to be brushed and is definitely a lap cat. I only wish I could have found her when she was a baby. She also has nerve damage in her back legs and spine we assume is from a previous injury of some kind.

All I can do is love her and spoil her and give her the best quality of life I can while she is still with me. She is definitely a very special kittie. She could've been a "show cat" for sure. That's how gorgeous she is.

"Carmella" : is a pure bred flat faced Tortoiseshell Persian that I rescued from a cat hoarder. When I mean "rescued"... I mean "RESCUED"! The house she was staying in was so filled with animals and COVERED in urine and feces. My husband went over to the house once and he said the smell literally knocked him and our little boy down. He said he could smell it even before they opened the door.
The person that had her, said that she would be no count to ANYONE because all she does is hide and is very unsociable. ( almost ferrel ). She was all matted and I took her and had her shaved and examined and vaccinated.

Come to find out... all she needed was L O V E !!!! Imagine that!!!!
She is now one of our most spoiled cats and is definitely my husbands cat. She had bonded to him very quickly since we brought her home. Probably because of where she came from!!

Carmella is now one very fat, lazy, healthy, HAPPY cat and is about 3 -4 years old now. She has alot of love to give and boy does she give it!! What a difference it makes in the environment an animal is in! DUH!!

"Celia" : (I just recently found out by doing research on her) is a pure bred Toy,doll faced, silver shaded, smoke tabby. With papers, she is worth from $800-$1200!! But...she doesn't have papers. I had been curious of her breed because I had never seen one like her before, ever. Just on television.
Celia also came from the animal hoarder and was basically unsociable as well. When my husband went to the house about Carmella, he said that there were about five or six more running around just like Celia. He felt so sorry for those animals. He wanted to take them ALL home. I wish we could have.
We are considering turning them into the ASPCA . NO animal should live in those conditions. And they had small children in the house!!...Breathing in that ammonia oder!! They said that Celia wouldn't be any count as well. NO WONDER!! Would you if you lived in those conditions??!! DUH!!!

Celia is now an EXTREMELY lovable kittie and is definitely a lap cat! I also had to have her shaved and examined along with vaccinations.

KATIE, EMILY, GYPSY, HONEYBUNN, CARMELLA, and CELIA are ALL doing FANTASTIC and are in a very loving and CLEAN environment to live a full, happy, and HEALTHY life. Each and everyone of them tug at my heartstrings and they always will have a very special place in my heart.

And that's....the REST of the story!

God bless and thanks for "listening"!
